Dating back to the 1760's, this home is where the legendary Theodosia Burr Alston, daughter of U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr and wife of South Carolina Governor Joseph Alston stayed in 1812 before the the ship on which she was traveling vanished. Her ghost has been seen from here all along the coastline to North Carolina, as well as in front of the house. Another ghost that is said to haunt the home is a young woman who fell in love with a sea captain, but her father didn't approve of the match. He requested that the ship be anchored off the coast so the two could not meet again. Years went by and the parents passed away, and the daughter lived with her pack of pet dogs. She was found dead by neighbors and her ghost can be seen around the premises, surrounded by her ghostly dogs.
